Cadet Cambrian Patrol is the premier military skills event for the UK’s Army Cadet Forces, attracting teams from across the UK. Based closely on the Regular Army’s Exercise Cambrian Patrol, it takes place on the Brecon Beacons, and tests Army Cadets’ skills in navigation, tactics, shooting, first aid, leadership, military knowledge and endurance in a challenging environment.
Teamforce UK Ltd were requested to support to Cadet Cambrian Patrol in 2019 by supplying laser tag equipment for use in the section attack stand of the competition, and the staff to operate it. The equipment provided the unique capability of recording hits on target, something that cannot be done with cadets using blank ammunition. This ensured that the scores were taken fairly and objectively, and had the added benefit of ensuring that the cadets used cover correctly and used the sights when taking aim. These capabilities ensured that the cadets carried out their skills and drills to the best of their ability, and as a result greatly enhanced the cadet’s enjoyment, with the Section Attack stand being reported as the high point of the competition.
From the initial enquiry to the closing down of the event, Teamforce UK were outstanding. They accompanied the Cadet Training Team on the recce of the training area, proved the concept and provided advice and guidance on how to get the best out of the equipment. During the competition they collated the scores and ensured the weapons and receivers were kept fully charged and functioning perfectly, despite the extremely poor weather conditions. Afterwards, they provided a thorough report with recommendations on how to integrate the technology into future training.
The success of Cadet Cambrian Patrol 2019 was in no small part due to the professionalism, knowledge and experience of Teamforce UK Ltd, and we will be using them again for future event.
